Veterans Designation on FL Driver License

How do I get Veteran's Designation on my license?

Starting July 11, 2011, Veterans who live in Florida can add a Veteran designation to their Florida driver license (DL) or identification card (ID card) for a one-time fee.  The Veteran designation ,"V", is placed on the bottom right corner of the card and can be used to show proof of status for discounts at participating merchants.

To add the "V" to a license or ID card, please visit any Florida driver license or county tax collector office that offers driver license services.  You will need to present your DD-214 or DD-215 which shows you have received an honorable discharge from active duty. It does not have to be the original, a copy is sufficient.  The form DD-214 was first issued to military veterans on January 1, 1950. For veterans who served prior to January 1, 1950 the Department of Veteran Affairs has approved additional documents that can be used by customers wanting the "V" designation.  If you served prior to January 1, 1950 and have other documentation, please bring the form you were given by The Department of Veterans Affairs.

If you have not been issued a driver license or identification card in an office since January 1, 2010 you will also be required to present Real ID documents.  Please visit GatherGoGet for information regarding these required documents.

Veterans who need to obtain a copy of their DD-214 or DD-215, may request it through the National Archives.
